Happy Sunday Sketchbookers,
I didn’t make as much art as I usually do last week because I’ve been trying to work on updating my shop and portfolio AND I started a new publication, so please subscribe if you resonate.
Here’s a peek at some random things that I made/sketched.
This oil pastel sketch was from last Saturday, July 6. I love this so much that I scanned it and will probably make it a print after working on it in Photoshop. I’m not fully sure how that will work printing-wise, I think I probably will have to purchase black paper, or just change the background color digitally. We’ll see later.
I re-purposed an old sketch I made with India ink, which I abandoned, and added some vibrancy and contract with Faber-Castell gelatos.

A quick colored pencil time-lapse… not my best work, but sometimes the art just doesn’t art. LOL 😆
Another re-purpose job….
This was a pen and watercolor sketch from my sketchbook, that I liked but it just seemed like it was missing something, so I abandoned it. Fast forward, I scanned it into Photoshop, added some digital collage elements that I made, used some new painting brushes Adobe has now, and voila! I like it very much now. Super cute.
One thing I learned last week is that I can go back to my old sketchbooks and re-work sketches and it’s fine. I can go back as many times as I want and re-work, and re-purpose things as much as I want.
It’s funny how we have a certain thought in our minds as to how things should be or how we’re supposed to use certain art supplies, but at the end of the day, it’s your practice, it’s your sketchbook and art materials and you can do what you want!
There are so many sketches from last year and the year before that I look at now and say “Oh my gosh, what was I thinking?” but I can go back in and re-work them because I’m a better illustrator today than I was two years ago.
I highly recommend going back to old pieces and exploring how you can re-work something, you might end up with something final or shop-worthy.
We are still in July, which means you still have plenty of time to get your hands on this print in the mail once you become a paid member, as well as the digital download.
This is a watercolor painting that I made on 9x12 paper, but I am now offering it as a 5x7 print. It will only be available for July, after which it will be for sale in my shop.
Next month, I will feature a whole new print and digital download

I love to revisit old drawings and repeat the same subject over and over, honestly I think it's a great way to practice and also we can see how much our skills evolved or are just different!
