Capturing an Oceanside Urban Scene in My A3 Sketchbook
In today’s video, I’m diving into an acrylic painting in my A3 sketchbook, working from a reference photo from Pixabay.
Acrylic paint is such a versatile medium. It dries quickly, which lets me build up layers of texture and color in one sitting. I started with blocking in large shapes and mapping out the composition. From there, it was all about layering and letting my brush move intuitively as I brought the scene to life.
Working in a larger A3 sketchbook gives me the freedom to move my hand more expressively. It’s also a great way to practice compositions for potential larger works or canvas pieces. If you’re someone who usually paints small, I really encourage you to try working big in your sketchbook — it’s incredibly freeing and pushes your creative boundaries.
